Lower Hermosa Camp, Durango, CO

We spent the night in the San Juan National Forest near Lower Hermosa Campground.  Unfortunately, all of the sites were taken by the time we arrived.  It was sad to note that these were not short term campers but rather, long term residents (aka homeless) people living in the campground (even though there is a 14 day stay limit).  This became obvious to us when we noticed that all of the Horse only campsites were also full, but there were no horses in the respective campsite corrals.

It had been a rough and rocky climb to Lower Hermosa Campground, so rather than descend the mountain that night we parked in the day use area.  These photos were taken on our trip back down the mountain the next morning.

At the base of the mountain George spotted this homemade adventure rig.
