Mt. Mitchell & Asheville, NC

We left Curtis Creek with high hopes of the Blue Ridge Parkway being open.  We were able to get onto the Parkway at milepost 348 and headed towards Mt. Mitchell.   The Parkway was barricaded again just past the entrance to the Mt. Mitchell State Park. We were fortunate to still be able to make it to Mt. Mitchell.  We turned into the park and started heading for the summit.  Unfortunately, the roads to the summit were closed from the visitors center onward.  We were still able to take a few nice pictures before heading back out of the park.

On our way out of the park George spotted a natural spring by the side of the road so we stopped and filled our water bottles.

We keep running into these barricades along the Parkway.

We headed off the Parkway and towards Asheville, NC.  Once we got to Asheville we stopped by the Visitors Center then went off and walked around the city a bit.
